Google launched the Chrome browser earlier this week. It's very good! Much quicker at rendering pages than IE (who actually uses IE these days?) and is on a par with Firefox.
It's only beta but worth a look.

| I'm sure it's great. But there's no Mac or Linux versions yet, so I've yet to see. Saying that, I'm a believer in waiting for proper releases rather than getting disgruntled over beta bugs and ditching it. It's good that there's yet more competition for IE, although Google's ever growing stronghold on literally everything in the world worries me. |

Me. It works fine and it's just there. I've never seen the need to use a different browser. _________________ Yeu! |

gah, it doesn't work fine, it's a complete mess, it is terribly incompentant when it comes to meeting web standards, it's ok for end users but for web devs like moi - it's hell. ie8 is just going to make it worse _________________ Four sweaty boys with guitars tell me NOTHING about my life |

The amount of cruft the frontend guys on some web projects I help with have to add to the end of their css prefixed with /* To make fucking IE work */ is crazy. IE has always been a sub-par browser (No tabs until 2006, what the fuck?), and the fact that IE 8 needs more RAM than Windows xp means you are going to need a fucking Cray to get it running on Vista.
Meanwhile, Chrome looks pretty damn good, mainly for geeky reasons than anything else (The sandboxing is absolutely genius, and the Javascriot virtual machine will be a great improvement), though without a Linux version, I think it is an utterly pish idea. _________________ http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=24088799771 | http://admincampaign.bobbo.me.uk |

^ they'll be a linux idea, but not for a while - it's still in command line testing for linux.
http://code.google.com/p/chromium/issues/list <--- has all the bugs, there's a few bits on linux on there, def in development, can't see it appearing for months though _________________ Four sweaty boys with guitars tell me NOTHING about my life |

I'm not a fan of IE at all, 7 seems really unstable on my system.
And Firefox jsut seems to kill my RAM.
I'll be giving Chrome a twirl shortly.
I'm quite looking forward to the day google takes over the world, it'll be so much easier. Everything will be clean and simple, look nice and actually work on release.
I'm particuarly looking forward to their mobile phone OS.
Anyone know if they're gonna release their own desktop OS, that'd be rather nice, everything all intergrated and useful.

I've not tried it yet, but even if I do, I'll probably stick with Firefox.
I was watching BBCs Click, and it (may or may not have) mentioned having ads relevant to the page your viewing appear somewhere, like in Gmail. In Gmail, I can handle it. I dont check that every 30 seconds. What I couldnt handle is me watching something then an subscription ad appearing out of nowhere that is vaguely related. Its bad enough having "Spam Fritter Recipes" advertised when I'm emptying my spam box.
I'm a tad apprehensive, but I'll go into it with an open mind, and have a squint at the full release too, see how I feel. _________________ MAKE MATT A SANDWICH!

Just had a try of Chrome on my new Windows XP VM. Actually really like it. Firefox is pissing me off with branding / trademark bullshit (Ubuntu having to show a completely fucking uselsss EULA because Mozilla want to arse about with Trademarks, making my life much more difficult as a linux dev, thanks for that one Mozilla!) so I may very well switch when it is ported.

Apple's Safari has 'Private browsing'. Very useful when doing 'research'.
I've gone back to using Safari for PC until Chrome's a bit more stable. Chrome's more of an alpha release than a beta at the moment.
I use Safari as it seems quicker than both IE and Firefox. _________________ http://wiki.wwiionline.com/ |

safari's the fastest browser around at the moment, firefox seems to have a memory leakage problem which slows it down if it's been open for a while. _________________ Four sweaty boys with guitars tell me NOTHING about my life |

Someone's done some comparisons between Chrome, FF and IE (not me, I couldn't be arsed).
Chrome's miles ahead. _________________ http://wiki.wwiionline.com/ |

Kat if you mean change all of Vista back to what older Windows versions are like you can change it to "Classic Mode" via the Control Panel. I have because Vista is crap. I have it looking like Windows 98 now - much nicer.
And Google Chrome is the browser equivalent of happy little puppies compated to a rabid Pit Bull with one eye that fancies your leg. I love it. |
